Working on Day of the Dead #2

Well I'm currently working on Day of the Dead amidst the hectic Sale of my home and relocation of the family. Agents, house hunting (this time in Apple Valley CA) It takes a toll on the amount of time I can paint, so I aim for 4 AM. I paint by Natural light so that doesn't happen until 7AM anyway! I am starting to finalize my painting by putting in the detail in the flowers. I do this by applying darker values, then painting the light areas over DRY darker values. For my yellow flowers (roses) I'm thinking I need a different yellow. I am using Cadmium yellow light now... too pale! So I'll try a medium hue. For the red roses I'm using vermilion hue and rose permanent, naples yellow, cadmium yellow, and titanium white. For the dark's it's viridian green and ivory black. I think some of you on facebook saw my post of this painting after one of my twins got to my paints and boldly dotted this painting with black paint... no harm done. I was able to wash it off with turpentine. Now I never leave my pallet alone! Such is the life of an artist mother!
